City Church Worship: A Sight Unseen

At the University of Central Arkansas, there are many different organizations that you can be a part of. With a stroke of luck, I was able to enroll in College City; the campus ministry that is associated with City Church Conway. From the moment I heard the incredible sounds that were coming from the worship team, I knew that I wanted to eventually be a part of it.

However, it wasn’t just the incredible music that played my heart strings, it was the communication that was being used among everyone on stage.

It was amazing to see how everybody was there for everyone else. If something went south the other musicians would pick up the slack and continue. To them, it was more important that they collaborated in order to worship our God than it was to hog the spotlight.

As the semester continued, I was thrilled to get the news that I would being playing keys and singing at the next Thursday night service. Finally, I was able to get a taste of the communication that was being used on stage. After my first performance, I walked off stage with many take-away’s.

A lot of people are unaware of what happens offstage in regards to set up, but people are even more clueless when it comes to everything that’s happening on stage. Not only is it very clear what everyone else is doing, but you also have the sound guys speaking to you from the back saying to play louder or softer.

The whole experience was incredible, and I’m glad I got the chance to be a part of it. I would encourage you to go out and discover your own magical experiences.

As always, stay gold.
